3: Why Was Picasso So Blue?

The third graders are starting to move into painting. They will begin by looking at Picasso's Blue Period and discuss why he worked with only the color blue at this point, what emotion and mood this evoked, and how to get different tints and shades out of a single color. The students will experiment with tints and shades using one color by creating a monochromatic painting of their very own.
